POOL MAINTENANCE

RECOMMENDED POOL MAINTENANCE CHECKLIST

The checklist is split into Daily, Weekly, and As Needed tasks.

Daily

Check for broken equipment or vandalism.
Ensure main drain is visible.
Check for stains or algae on pool floor.
Inspect inlet and outlet covers.
Look for other potential issues.
Remove surface debris with skimmer net.
Confirm water level is high enough for proper automatic skimming.
Empty and clean skimmer baskets or gutters.
Record chemical readings, temperature, and clarity.

Automated chemical controller:

• Check and record readings. • Verify disinfectant and pH dosing operation. • Ensure an adequate chemical supply.

Adjust chemicals and temperature as needed.

Record pump pressure and vacuum gauge readings.

Check flow meter readings.

Clean hair and lint strainer if needed.

Verify valves in the pool circulation system are in the proper position.

Check filter pressure and backwash if needed.

Vacuum the pool and check filter pressure, backwashing as necessary.

Inspect deck for damage or standing water.

Remove any debris that restricts drainage.

Check slides or play features for broken stairs, loose fittings, or hazards.

Put deck furniture in place and hose or wipe down.
Confirm safety equipment is in place.
Empty waste containers and replace liners.
Clean and sanitize changing rooms, then restock soap and toilet paper.
Inspect diving boards, ladders, slides, and other equipment for safety issues.
Inspect ladders, diving boards, and slides.
Clean pump and filtration rooms.
Inspect fencing and self-closing gates for proper function.

Weekly

Scrub pool scum line.
Spray down or pressure wash and disinfect the surrounding deck.
Clean chemical feeders, metering pumps, tubing, and injection sites.
Clean any automated controller sensor probes.

As Needed

Shock (breakpoint chlorinate) pool when required.
Backwash the filter or clean the filter medium as needed.
Lubricate pumps and mechanical equipment.
Pool heaters, generators, HVAC units, and other mechanical equipment.
Inspect the sand in any sand filters.
