ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

COMMITMENT TO ACCESSIBILITY

The Southwest Utah Public Health Department is committed to providing information to residents and visitors with a website experience that is accessible to everyone, including users with disabilities such as visual, auditory, neurological, motor, or other challenges that affect their ability to access and understand the information presented on our website. This also includes users who face technological, economic, or other barriers.

To the best of our ability, we adhere to accessibility standards that support inclusive design, technology compatibility, multimedia accessibility, and clear communication.

Design

Our website follows design standards that support users with visual, motor, neurological, and other access barriers. Pages are created with high contrast between text and background, responsive layouts that adapt to different screen sizes, adjustable text for readability, and formatting that supports understanding.

Technology

We use technological platforms that aim for the highest practical level of accessibility, supporting compatibility across browsers and devices to ensure information is accessible to the widest audience possible.

Multimedia Accessibility

We strive to ensure that all multimedia content meets the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA. Videos published on this website and official social media channels include synchronized captions to support individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. Captions are reviewed for accuracy whenever possible.

For audio-only content such as narrated articles or podcasts, a written transcript is provided whenever available.

Comprehension

We design content for clarity and ease of understanding by using natural, non-technical language, avoiding unnecessary jargon or acronyms, and providing clear, descriptive links. Where available, translation options are provided to support users whose first language is not English.

Accessibility Guidelines

Our website follows WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 guidelines to support accessibility. We conduct regular testing to identify and improve accessibility issues.

Transcripts

We provide transcripts for audio content, including externally hosted media. Each transcript includes spoken content and relevant visual information in a format compatible with screen readers.

Access all transcripts in the Transcript Repository (Google Drive).
